Let’s be honest, most of our good intentions went out of the window in 2020. It’s not been the best year to take control of your life and achieve your goals, with lockdowns etc. So, your new years resolutions for 2021 are a great way to wipe the slate clean and start again.
Maybe you make new years resolutions every year, maybe you don’t believe in them. Or maybe you’re feeling like 2021 really is a big year to change the world and be a new better you… Or maybe you just wanna lose that beer belly. Whatever.
We’ve put together some of the most achievable and best new years resolutions for 2021. We think these are goals worthy of anyone, and they’re not ridiculously unachievable (i.e; make my first million this year… From nothing). So, lets have a look.
Make time for exercise
You don’t have to ‘get ripped’. You don’t have to be a fucking beast. You just have to make time for exercise. Target one hour three days a week and see how much of a difference you can make in 2021.
Eat less meat
Yes, we know meat is delicious. But… And this is a pretty major deal right now, it’s really bad for the planet. You don’t need to go vegan or whatever (but hey, give it a go, why not). But don’t make meat the cornerstone of meal you eat. An achievable resolution for 2021, we think, is eat meat only twice a week. See how you go from there.
Meditate more
It’s no longer just for hippies. Meditation is a great way to relax, reduce your stress and lower your blood pressure. You don’t need to sit cross legged on top of a mountain, just take a few moments a day to do absolutely nothing except to relax, breathe and let your thoughts drift away.
Buy less stuff
Living a minimalist life is a great way to both save a ton of money and not own tons of shit. Oh, and its also good for the environment. In 2021, we should all be buying less stuff and making do with what we own. That might mean clothing, food, gadgets or frivolous things. Enjoy experiences instead.
Switch off social media
The digital domain is now a major part of our lives, and social media dominates a lot our time. From Instagram to Tik Tok, these programs are basically designed to steal our attention and our time, often for no productive cause. If you’re looking for a new years resolution to get behind in 2021, cutting back on social media is a good one.
Do a sport you like
The most common new years resolution is ‘get fit’. For many of us, that means joining a gym or doing something that is more a penance than an enjoyment. In 2021, look at fitness and health as something to be enjoyed. Bike riding, paddleboarding, skateboarding, yoga and Pilates are all fun activities that have seen a growth in popularity in recent years. Ditch the gym and have fun instead, and watch the weight fall off.
Get a pet
With all the time locked down at home during 2020, loneliness is a big thing. The Covid-19 pandemic has seen a huge boom in pet ownership, with people turning to a furry companion to stop them going nuts at home. If you’re looking for a fun and loyal friend, you could always get a doodle dog. Fluffy, friendly and easy to look after and a great friend to take you beyond 2021.
Side hustle
If there is one thing that 2020 taught us, it’s that jobs and the economy can be fragile. A side hustle is a good way to get skills, experience and money to support you if your real job fails you. In fact, for many, the side hustle becomes their main job. From writing that novel, to teaching people Kung Fu, you never know where your side hustle might take you – so make this a solid new years resolution for 2021.
