If love is in the air and you need to seal the deal, where do you go to pop the question?
Choosing a romantic destination to propose is the seal of a proper high roller.
Many people choose to propose at the site of their first date. Sometimes it’s going back to the place they first went on holiday.
If you’re about to pop the question and you want to do it in style (of course you do) – then take her to one of these stunning destinations. She won’t be able to say no!
Key West, Florida
Cool and tropical, Key West has that Caribbean flavour which makes it a unique city in the USA. The weather is normally stunning (avoid hurricane season obviously) and there are some beautiful places to relax with your loved one.
Mallory Square is where the masses go to watch the sunset and sip a cool drink. It is a little bit touristy but still has a great romantic vibe. If you like an audience then this will be the place to do it.
For a more tranquil spot to pop the question, Fort Zachary Taylor Park has stunning unspoiled views. Bring a picnic and a bottle of wine and bring that ring out for dessert.
Venice, Italy
It might be a cliche, but Venice really is a romantic city and a great place to propose. The sense of history really takes you in and the choice of amazing places to dine or stay means you can really make it memorable.
Avoid Rialto Bridge or St Marks Square as these are normally buzzing with tourists and often have Chinese wedding parties.
At the southern end of Castello is the Giardini Publicci (Public Gardens), the perfect place to pop the question. You have the landscape behind you with a stunning sunset, tranquil gardens and a more sedate feel than the tourist areas.
The bridge at the head of Via Guiseppe Garibaldi is also a lovely spot to pop the question. There are also some great bars and authentic restaurants along the street.
Alternatively, Murano is also a great spot away from tourists.
Innsbruck, Austria
Nestled amongst mountains in the heart of the Tyrol, Innsbruck is a stunningly beautiful city. In winter the snow capped peaks truly take your breath away and in summer the view is just as spectacular.
The potential for proposing is great in Innsbruck, if you’re a winter sports nut then this is definitely one of the best places to do it.
Take the Hungerburgbahn to the top and enjoy the view – if you really want to feel on top of the world go up the Nordkettebahn too. Inspiring views and a great place to sweep her off her feet.
San Sebastian, Spain
Nestled up at the north west corner of Spain, San Sebastian is a short ride from the French border. This city is one of the most beautiful in Europe and has a food culture that is second to none, even in foodie Spain.
It’s also a great place to propose, with several memorable spots to do the deed.
Monte Igueldo has the stunning view but it has a slightly antiquated funfair which may or may not enhance the proposal.
Monte Urgul also has a stunning city view and a huge Christ statue (not unlike Rio’s redeemer).
Alternatively, reserve a seat at one of the cities many Michelin starred restaurants such as Arzak, Kokotxa or Akelare and propose in style.
Don’t forget to tip.
Bali, Indonesia
Serene, spiritual, action packed… Bali has it all. So it’s a great place to get on that knee.
There’s a lot of places to choose from though so it depends on where you’re staying, what you’re doing etc. There’s nothing wrong with just doing it as the sunsets over dinner at your hotel.
But one of the most spectacular spots on Bali is Nusa Penida, a small island which you’ll need a boat to get to. For extra points hire a private cruise.
Bonus:
Impress her with your amazing style and taste with a great wedding ring. But wedding rings don’t have to be expensive – there are many places you can find a bargain wedding ring.
